High school state track meet goes coed

August 11, 2004 By admin

Officials with the Iowa boys’ athletic association and the girls’ athletic union are trying to hammer out a schedule for next year’s coed state high school track meet. Last week it was announced that the state track meets would be combined and held May 19th, 20th and 21st at Drake Stadium. Dave Anderson from the association who says they have joined together due to renovations at the Drake University Stadium and the concept of a coed state track meet is not new. He says in the past there have been plans for a coed track meet but this is the first year to actually do it. Anderson hopes a schedule is completed soon.
