Students and staff in the Maple Valley School District will enjoy a summer vacation that’s just a little longer this year. Last night the Maple Valley School Board voted to move the first day of school from August 25 to September 7. The old high school building will be made over this year for use as a new elementary school, and school officials it’ll take more time to complete the change-over. High school teachers will move into a new building this fall, and the old Maple Valley School in Castana has been sold. Minnesota-based Taasco Incorporated bought the building on eBay for 10-thousand dollars, and will turn it into a facility for manufacturing nuclear microscopes. The firm hopes to have 30 workers at the site within the next five years.
