A Mason City school teacher has quit after being forbidden from displaying his religious beliefs. 35-year-old Luke Miller, a band teacher at Roosevelt Middle School, resigned on Friday after he refused requests made by school administrators to remove religious items from his classroom. Miller says that a poster of the Ten Commandments and a few other religious items were displayed in his class. Mason City Schools Superintendent Keith Sersland refused to comment other than confirming Miller resigned voluntarily. The United States Supreme Court has regularly ruled against displaying the Ten Commandments in public buildings.
