Waldorf raises big money

There may be more catchy slogans for homecoming week, but Waldorf College in Forest City is happy to be “Under Construction.” Don Meyer, vice president of college relations, announced the school’s current fundraising effort has reached fifteen-and three-quarters Million dollars. At the annual meeting of Waldorf’s “Association of Congregations,” College president Tom Jolivette said the funds will be used to support Waldorf’s new four-year programs and to fuel enrollment growth. The final goal is an ambitious 22-and-a-half Million. Jolivette says they’re unveiling a campaign twice the size of anything Waldorf has tried before, dubbed “A New Century of Mission.” Pastor Jolivette has resigned as president of Waldorf and will leave at the end of the year for Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Homecoming begins Friday, combined with Family Week for the first time, and the theme “Under Construction — Building on Tradition” will explain for visitors the work underway to build a new library that’s going up with help from a four and-a-half-Million-dollar endowment.
