A 48-year-old West Des Moines man has been sent to a federal prison for buying child porn. Dieter Christian Gensch was sentenced to 27 months in prison for buying child pornography over the Internet. Gensch admitted he was part of a group called “The Candyman E-group” that used the Internet to exchange kiddie porn with one another. F-B-I agents who were tracking the Internet group established an electronic trail that led to Gensch’s computer. Officers went to his home in April of 2002, and he admitted he had downloaded “visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.” Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Attorney for Iowa’s Southern District, says finding those who exploit children in this way is a high priority for everyone in law enforcement.
