Discussion about changing the boundries of the West Central Valley school district to leave out a member town ended last night. By a five-to-two vote, the West Central Valley school board decided to discontinue its exploration of concurrent action; an effort which would have shifted Redfield to another district. For the time being, West Central Valley will remain as it is. The vote came after several board members and most of those in attendance at Wednesday’s school board meeting indicated they wanted the matter concluded one way or another. West Central Valley would have lost approximately a million dollars worth of funding from taxes collected in Redfield. The board also voted 4-3 not to sell 35 acres of Stuart land which has been a proposed site for a new high school in recent bond referendums. The failure of those bond votes led to the concurrent action movement. Stuart-Menlo board members and district administrators expressed interest in keeping the land for a possible trade if a new site is found. Redfield and Dexter board members believe ke! eping the land will lead to further conflict between the communities.
