November 5, 2004 By admin

With a spot in the Pioneer League championship game secured the Drake Bulldogs now focus on the final two games of the regular season beginning with Saturday’s matchup at home against Upper Iowa. Drake won the North division title last week with a 13-6 victory at Dayton and will visit Morehead State for the PFL crown on November 20th. Drake coach Rob Ash says the Bulldogs are pumped up about getting the chance to play an extra game and says it is hard to keep their feet on the ground. He says they’ll use the next two games to get ready for the championship. He says they can’t keep the team from thinking ahead, so he says they’re using these games to get better and prepare for the championship game.Ash says Upper Iowa will provide a big challenge, as he says they have great skill and size.In their first season against a primarily division-two schedule the Peacocks are 2-6 heading into their finale. Upper Iowa coach Courtney Messingham says the team has improved as it has matured since their first practices. He says things are starting to become clear for the new players and they’re a much better team than when they started.
