The quarterfinal round of the state high school football playoffs continue tonight with action in three classes. In 4A, third rated and unbeaten Cedar Falls visits number-seven Iowa City High (8-2). Cedar Falls beat Dubque Wahlert 17-7, while Iowa City downed Cedar Rapids Prairie 24-3. Cedar Falls has never beaten Iowa City High as the Little Hawks are 4-0 against the Tigers in the playoffs. Cedar Falls Coach Pat Mitchell says though he likes this team and thinks they’ll do alright. The first game in the UNI-Dome this evening is a Class A Quarterfinal match up between #7 Northwood-Kensett and #8 Valley of Elgin. Both teams won their first round games on the road and are looking for a trip to the Semifinals. Northwood-Kensett Head Coach Dave Capitani says his team is taking the same approach to this game as they did in the first round against Postville. They need to move the ball offensively and make some plays defensively so they can control the football.Valley of Elgin Head Coach Chad Beermann says his ball club needs to control the tempo of the game to be successful. He says their formula for success is to run the football and keep the other team from getting the ball. He says they also want to try and force turnovers and force the other team to go on long drives and earn their points. Both teams come in with records of 9-1 on the season; kickoff is scheduled for 6:15 in Cedar Falls.
