The latest state survey finds the average price for a gallon of gas has dropped in the past month. Jennifer Moehlmann , an energy analyst for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, says the dip happened because crude oil prices have dropped “significantly.”There’s been a drop in the price of crude oil in the past month of about nine-dollars-a-barrell. Moehlmann says the pump prices in Iowa dropped about seven cents per gallon from mid-October to mid-November. She expects a slight increase in prices, though, over Thanksgiving, but then another decline heading into December. Driving home for Thanksgiving will cost more than it did last year. Moehlmann says the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline today is about 44-cents higher than it was a year ago. The average price for self-serve, regular unleaded gas on November 15th was a dollar-87 a gallon. The average price for an ethanol blend was a-dollar-84. Diesel was selling for an average price of a-dollar-51 on November 15th.
