Iowa and Iowa State look to earn big victories on Saturday. The 17th rated Hawkeyes close out the regular season at home against number-nine Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes have won six straight games and could tie for the Big Ten title if Michigan is upset by Ohio State. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says they haven’t played a top ten team at home since Michigan last year, and he says it will take a big effort to win. Both teams feature outstanding defensive lines and the battle in the trenches will be a key. He says they feel good about their defense, he says the difference is Wisconsin has a veteran offensive line. The Hawks have won their last 17 games in Kinnick Stadium and Ferentz is hoping to make it 18. Iowa is 8-2 and Wisconsin is 9-1. The winner most likely will earn a bid to the Capitol One Bowl in Orlando on New Years Day.Iowa State has plenty on the line as the Cyclones visit Kansas State. ISU needs one more win to become bowl eligible and controls its own fate in the Big-12 north division title race. Kansas State is 4-6 but the Wildcats have won the last ten games in the series. He says he knows how tough it will be and he hopes his players do to. McCarney says the Cyclones need to avoid mistakes that could give K-State early momentum. With so much on the line there will be plenty of emotion but McCarney says it will be important to keep it in check. Iowa State is 5-4.
