You’ll be able to buy a gallon of high-concentration ethanol motor fuel for 85 cents today only at a pump in Nevada, but you have to be driving a special kind of vehicle. E-85 fuel is 85 percent ethanol, and it’ll be sold for 85 cents a gallon this Saturday at the Heart of Iowa Co-op that sits along Highway 30. Jennifer Moehlmann of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says there are quite a few vehicles in Iowa that can burn that E-85 fuel. Moehlmann says there more than 45-thousand vehicles registered in Iowa which are “flexible fuel” models — which means they can run on E-85. Moehlmann says the number of flexible fuel cars in Iowa has more than doubled in the past two years. There were only 22-thousand vehicles registered in the state that could burn more than one fuel. Moehlmann says 15 different vehicle models that fit in that “flexible fuel” category. Moehlmann says you can find just about any kind of car you want to buy now offers the “flexible fuel” option that allows owners to buy the E-85 fuel. You can buy E-85 fuel at 16 gas stations. Those stations are in Akron, Ames, Council Bluffs, Galva, Hinton, Lake Mills, Nevada, Northwood, Orange City (which has two stations selling E-85), Rock Rapids, Rock Valley, Sergeant Bluff, Sioux Center, Story City and West Burlington.
