Group sends tape of U-of-I vandalism

November 23, 2004 By admin

The F-B-I now has new evidence in pursuing an animal rights group accused in a high-profile vandalism case in eastern Iowa. Media outlets got the videotape Monday afternoon that shows masked animal activists ransacking the research labs at the University of Iowa on November 14th. U-of-I researchers confirm — the tape is authentic. The Animal Liberation Front claims responsibility for the incident, which caused tens of thousands of dollars damage. The tape shows three people smashing computer equipment, carting away lab animals and spray-painting on the walls. Seashore Hall opened Monday morning but Spence Labs will remain closed. The envelope the tape was sent in will be subpeonaed by authorities for further investigation.
