As thousands of Iowans hit the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, many thousands more will be heading -for- Iowa destinations to visit friends and family and to do a little exploring. Nancy Landess, director of the Iowa Tourism office, says she has a tip for saving some money while traveling around the Hawkeye State. The website “traveliowa.com” has a series of on-line travel coupons, categorized by lodging, dining, attractions, shopping and more. Landess says the estimates show the number of holiday travelers will be rising several percentage points from Thanksgiving last year — and those folks can make use of the coupons all over Iowa.Christmas Eve is one month away and Landess says all sorts of events are underway in Iowa that mark the arrival of the holiday season. There are lots of open houses, festivals of trees, Christmas walks, concerts and many communities are holding Thanksgiving parades to turn on the holiday lights — they’re all listed at the website “traveliowa.com.”
