Authorities have just released details of a weekend vehicle-deer accident in southwest Iowa’s Adams County that’s eerily reminiscent of one that took place two years ago. The Adams County Sheriff’s Department reports Donald Gillham, of Shenandoah, was westbound on Highway 34, east of Stanton at about 5:20 P.M. Saturday, when his 1997 Dodge Caravan struck a deer. The animal flew through the air, and landed on the hood of a vehicle driven by Rodmond Johnson, who was traveling behind him. After bouncing-off his hood, the deer crashed though the windshield of Johnson’s 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, causing 3-thousand dollars damage. Gillhams’ van sustained 15-hundred dollars damage. Neither driver was hurt. on November 18th, 2002, Iowa State Patrol trooper John Sebatka, of Audubon, was critically injured during a similar accident east of Vail, in Crawford County.
