Solon students injured in bus rollover

November 29, 2004 By admin

Some students in the Solon school district were treated for minor injuries after their schoolbus rolled over this (Monday) morning in eastern Johnson County. State Patrol spokesman Jim Saunders says they were on the way to school at the time. Preliminary information indicates the schoolbus was westbound and came up to a stopsign when its brakes locked up and it rolled over. Some of the kids on the overturned bus boarded a second bus sent to the scene, and went on to schools. He says 11 were injured slightly, and the report indicates that at that time it was wet and snow was falling. The kids with scrapes and bruises were taken to be seen by a doctor. They weren’t hurt seriously, but were taken to University Hospitals, and to Mercy Hospital, in Iowa City. Later in the day all the students had been released. The kids attend the Solon school, between Iowa and Cedar Rapids. It happened at the intersection of St Bridget’s Road and Morse road, in eastern Johnson County.
