It was all UNI last night in Cedar Falls as the Panthers rolled past Iowa State 99-82 in an intra-state college basketball matchup. UNI hit a UNI-Dome record 12 three pointers and shot 63-percent from the floor. UNI led from start to finish, at one time leading by 33 points. Erick Crawford led UNI with 28 points, Ben Jacobsen had a carreer high 27 points. Cyclone coach Wayne Morgan had little to say at the post-game press conference. He says UNI played a very good game and “gave us a good beating today.”The Cyclones were in trouble from the outset as UNI built a 20-5 lead to start the game. UNI coach Greg McDermott says his team played well in all phases. He says, “tonight was our night and I think Iowa State is going to win a lot of games.” He says his executed the offense about as well as they could and also had a solid defensive game. Junior guard Ben Jacobsen says some public comments by ISU players helped motivate the Panthers and there were a few heated moments during the second half of play. Jacobsen says it was a satisfying win after the Panthers squandered an 18-point second half lead in their previous game at Cincinatti.UNI is 2-1 while Iowa State drops to 3-1.
