UNI looks for first win at Iowa

December 7, 2004 By admin

The UNI men’s basketball team will look for their first ever win in Iowa City, as they take on 17th ranked Iowa tonight at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Panthers are winless in their 19 previous trips to Iowa City. Northern Iowa coach Greg McDermott anticipates a high scoring game, as both are scoring over 80 points a game and both are shooting over 50 percent from the floor on the year. Both are also shooting over 40 percent from three point range, and McDermott says he hopes they can keep Iowa’s percentages down a little bit. McDermott says they have a lot of respect for coach Alford and the Iowa program. He says they want to see Iowa do well when they’re not playing against each other. UNI is 4-1. Iowa is 6-1.
