Wichita State pulled away in the second half enroute to a 75-53 win over Drake Wednesday night in Des Moines in the Missouri Valley opener for both teams. The Bulldogs trailed by only three at the halftime break. Drake coach Tom Davis on his post-game show on KRNT in Des Moines says they played pretty well in the first half, but then they got outrebounded and the Shockers made more shots in the second half But Davis says that’s what good teams do to you. Wichita State entered the game unbeaten and Davis feels the Shockers are the team to beat in the Valley race. He says they have some terrific depth on their team with a nucleus from last year and some good newcomers. Davis says Wichita State looks to be the team to beat in the Valley. Forest City native Rob Kampman led the Shockers with a game high 23 points. Pete Eggers led Drake with 15 as the Bulldogs fall to 1-4.
