UNI center opts for surgery, out for season

December 14, 2004 By admin

An injured Northern Iowa player won’t return to the womens’ team this season. Junior center Kim Hansen of Cedar Falls will undergo posterior cruciate ligament surgery and will be lost for the entire 2004-05 basketball season. Hansen injured the knee last season and was hoping to return, but her recovery was slow and she decided to have surgery. Hansen started 16 of the first 17 games last season before being sidelined for the rest of the year with the knee injury. She averagednine-point-eight points and five-point-two rebounds.
