Frosty weather caused troubles for travelers in western Iowa this morning. Sergeant Dan Schaffer, with the State Patrol’s District 4 office in Denison, says he’s not sure yet exactly how many accidents there were — just that there were plenty. The frost made the roads very slick causing many motorists to crash into each other and into ditches. Schaffer says frost on the road may have surprised drivers. The roads were normal last night and there’s no snow on the ground so Schaffer says some motorists were caught unaware. One crash forced the closing of Highway 4 north of Panora this morning. No fatal accidents were reported this morning.
