Iowa coaches ready to get into bowl preparations

December 21, 2004 By admin

Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz says the Hawkeyes have cleared their desks and can now focus their attention on the January first Capitol One Bowl against LSU. Final exams are done and with two big recruiting weekends out of the way the Hawkeyes get set to leave for Orlando on Thursday. He says the focus is better because recruiting is over and they can now start working on the game plan and getting ready to play the game. For once Ferentz is not dogged by questions about an NFL opening. That obligation goes to LSU’s Nick Saban who appears to be the top choice to become the new coach of the Miami Dolphins. Ferentz does not think all the speculation will have an impact on the LSU players. He says the players are probably used to it after hearing the speculation in past years. He says they have a good football team and are playing very well. He says LSU has a good coaching staff, so the team will be ready to go and give the Hawkeyes their best shot. Both teams are 9-2 on the season.
