December 22, 2004 By admin

An Iowa City man who escaped from the Henry County Jail last Wednesday was recaptured in Richland, Iowa, late Monday afternoon, and isn’t the first escape this man has attempted.Officers from the Keokuk County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa State Patrol found Curtis Cortez Jones in a home where they also discovered guns and drugs. He’s now back in the Henry County Jail, being held on a wide variety of charges including possession of a controlled substance, probation violations, third degree theft and witness tampering. Jones was being transferred to another jail when he slipped out of custody last week. It’s the second time he has escaped from the jail in Mount Pleasant. His previous flight from authorities occured eight years ago.
