One person was injured in an early-morning housefire in Lorimor in southwest Iowa’s Union County. Lorimor Fire Chief Luke Johnson says it was a difficult fire to fight as it was fully involved by the time the trucks rolled up around 1 A-M. It was a story-and-a-half house and fire was showing in the attic through both windows. They set up an exterior attack and once the Afton fire crew showed up, they had enough people at the scene to go inside. Chief Johnson says the precise cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire started in the kitchen, went up a vent pipe and into the attic, engulfing the attic — which had heavy fire and water damage. A woman was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. She was treated and released.
