Iowa women win Big Ten opener

December 31, 2004 By admin

The 18th ranked Iowa women opened Big Ten play with a victory over Indiana. Crystal Smith had 24-pooints and six steals as the Hawkeyes downed the Hoosiers 62-51 in Iowa City to improve to 12-0 on the season. Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says you always want to take advantage of the home court and start out strong in the Big Ten and she says they did that. The Hawkeyes close out a busy week with a visit to Illinois on Sunday. She says it’ll be nice to have two days to prepare, but she says they still have to travel, so it’ll be a tough week.
