PETA plans chicken protest

January 1, 2005 By admin

Iowa seems to be a popular target lately for a national animal-rights group. Undeterred after being thoroughly ignored this week by the Allamakee County attorney, who they called upon to prosecute a Postville slaughterhouse, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced it will come out today in chicken suits. PETA people plan to protest at a northeast Des Moines KFC restaurant. The group has an ongoing campaign calling on the national fast-food franchise to make its poultry producers use kindlier methods to raise and slaughter chickens. In addition to someone dressed in a wounded chicken suit, the group says another volunteer will wear an electronic body screen…portable video gear showing images of animals being abused at farms and slaughterhouses.
