The Women’s Business Center of Iowa, a non-profit in Cedar Rapids, has run out of money and its manager is making an appeal for donations. “I need the help,” says Joni Thornton, the center’s director. “I need something coming in here.” Thornton has received some private donations over the past year, but not enough to continue. Thornton says she can’t keep the center open much longer. “And I’d like to get a paycheck,” she adds. The Center provides advice and other services to women entrepreneurs.
