A Sioux Center man escaped serious injury in a car versus train accident yesterday near Hospers in far northwest Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol, 26-year-old Ivan Castelelan’s vehicle was struck by a southbound Union Pacific train. Authorities say Castelelan was unable to stop at the rail crossing because of icy road conditions. Castelelan was taken to a hospital, in Sheldon where he was treated for a broken finger and minor cuts and bruises.
