Elkader farmer and farmhand sentenced on meth convictions

An Elkader dairy farmer and his farmhand will spend time in prison after being convicted of making meth down on the farm. 53-year-old Lloyd Engler and 44-year-old Bonnie Bailey were both convicted in July on two counts of attempting to manufacturing meth and one count of possession of meth with the attempt to distribute meth. Bailey was also convicted of possessing pseudephedrine to be used in making meth. Engler was also convicted on a charge of making his farm available for making, distributing and storing meth. Engler was sentenced to 121 months in prison. Bailey was sentenced to 151 months. During a search in October, authorities say they found meth in the farmhouse kitchen and on Engler, who was milking his cows. Both Bailey and Engler are being held as they wait assignment to a federal prison.
