About four dozen opponents of abortion gathered for a prayer vigil at the statehouse today, and a young woman who had an abortion was a featured speaker. She told the crowd her name was Jennifer, and then told her story. Jennifer says when she was 15, she made bad choices and took the so-called “morning after” pill and had complications. Then, a few years later, she had an abortion. “I used to be pro-choice until I suffered the consequences and realized that it’s actually a poor choice,” Jennifer says. “I am ashamed to say I laid on a table and allowed a stranger to rip part of my soul of my body.” She says having an abortion wasn’t a sane “choice.” Jennifer says she has a “gut-wrenching, sick feeling” in her soul that may never heal. Jennifer says it’s time to make abortion illegal. “There are no planned parents that come out of Planned Parenthood,” she says. “Only empty arms and cradles.” After Jennifer spoke, Chuck Hurley of the Iowa Family Policy Center led the group surrounding Jennifer in prayer.”Innocent children are being brutally murdered and it can’t go on forever, just as slavery couldn’t go on forever.” Hurley says it’s time to “heal” America by ending abortion.
