A fire that occurred Wednesday night in Western Iowa’s Adair County has been labeled as suspicious. Lynn Eddy, a spokesman for the Bridgewater Fire Department, says investigators haven’t as yet determined the exact cause of the blaze, but it did not appear to be accidental. He says State Fire Marshal investigator Mike Rogers was on the scene today, and has retrieved samples of material for further examination. Eddy says the fire six-miles north of Bridgewater, was reported by a passing motorist shortly after eight p.m. Wednesday. The home’s owner , Blake Wilbourne,- said the home was that of his parent’s and that it was recently occupied, but the tennants had since moved out. He was in the process of finding replacement tennants when the fire broke out. Eddy says their preliminary investigation shows the fire started on the outside of home. Firefighters from Bridgewater and Massena were on the scene for over six hours fighting the stubborn flames. Eddy says the home appears to have been a total loss, but there were no injuries.
