Gene Keady’s first trip to Iowa City as Purdue coach back on January 29th of 1981 ended with an 84-69 Iowa victory. The Hawkeyes would like to see his last visit end in similar fashion as the retiring coach takes his Boilermakers into Carver-Hawkeye Arena Saturday afternoon. Iowa coach Steve Alford says he’s always had the utmost respect for Keady as he says Keady has done things with respect and integrity. Purdue is 0-4 in the Big Ten and 4-11 overall but Alford says the Hawkeyes will need to be ready for a physical battle. Alford says Purdue has played well defensively, but haven’t been able to score. Iowa is 1-3 in the Big Ten and 13-4 overall after Thursday night’s overtime loss at top ranked Illinois.
