Body found along I-235 believed to be the result of a suicide

January 27, 2005 By admin

Wednesday-morning commuters into downtown Des Moines were shocked to see a man’s body, clearly visible, leaning against a high sound-proofing wall between the I-235 freeway and homes on the city’s east side. It caused a big traffic jam on the freeway and Sergeant Todd Dykstra says police worked through the day to secure the site and identify the man. The body’s identified as Nathan Arnett, a white man who lived in Des Moines. The cause of death, still under investigation, appeared to be from self-inflicted cuts to the neck and wrists. Sergeant Dykstra says the man lived some distance away on Des Moines’ north side and they don’t know how he got to the site between the soundproofing wall and the freeway, or why he was there about 7 Wednesday morning.
