Escapee caught after a full month on the run

February 25, 2005 By admin

Cops from three eastern Iowa cities have caught up with a man who was on the loose after breaking out of a jail in Mount Pleasant a month ago, and a new police dog in Coralville helped make the arrest. Curtis Cortez Jones escaped twice from the Henry County Jail in Mount Pleasant. He’s been on the loose since his second break-out January 20th. Jones was taken into custody at about 12:30 Thursday afternoon after a room-by-room search of a Coralville hotel. Police say he robbed the desk clerk of the Cantebury Inn in Coralville at gunpoint on February 17th. The Cubs Foods in Iowa City was robbed that same day, and cops are charging Jones with that, too. Jones faces several charges in Henry and Washington Counties, too.
