The Panthers trailed Wichita State 66-64 on the road with just four-seconds remaining. UNI passed the ball down the floor to Ben Jacobsen who hit a three-pointer with no time left for the 67-66 victory as the Panthers improved to 21-9 overall. Jacobsen on the post-game show of the the UNI Sports Network says he stumbled a little, but got his balance back and it really felt good. UNI had to erase an eight point deficit in the final four and a half minutes. The Panthers finish the MIssouri Valley Conference regular season 11-7 and tied with Creighton for third in the Valley standings. The biggest ramification may come on selection Sunday.UNI coach Greg McDermott says it’s as big a regular season win as the program has had. He says he’s not sure any Panther team has gone on the road and beaten a team with a 30 RPI. The Panthers are the fourth seed and will play Southwest Missouri State in the opening round of the conference tournament Saturday in St. Louis in a rematch of last year’s title game.
