Two Mason City High School students were arrested after a teacher was pushed through a plate glass window. 53-year-old Janet Kostka was injured in the incident, and was taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa where she was treated and released. Mason City police say the incident was reported shortly before 8:30 yesterday morning, with 17-year-old Ashley Ashby and 16-year-old Kedejsia Caples being involved in an argument. When Kostka intervened, she was pushed through the window. Ashby is charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault, and serious assault…while Caples was charged with disorderly conduct. Serious assault is a serious misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a fine up to $15-hundred. Disorderly conduct and simple assault are misdemeanor charges punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine up to $500.
