The field for the 2A boys basketball state tournament will be set Friday night. In Atlantic #4 Clarinda (22-2) meets the #5 Nodaway Valley Wolverines in a substate game. Wolverine coach Darrell Burmeister says there are no easy opponents at this time of year. He says anything can happen in one game, and they’ll probably be the underdog, but he says the kids don’t care about that. Burmeister’s Wolverines will be looking for a way to stop Clarinda’s all-time leading scorer Andrew Stimson and 6’9″ Cardinal center Anthony Davis who could cause problems in the post as he says he’s pretty strong inside. Burmeister says his team will have to go to the basket from the perimeter. Burmeister says the effort from his seniors Billy Baudler and Eric Raasch has made Nodaway Valley a contender. He says both of them have gone to camps and been in summer leagues. He says they also work with kids at camps, and you couldn’t ask for anything better than what they’ve given.
