A third lawsuit over a fatal crash involving a maintenance truck in Linn County has been settled out of court. Two eastern Iowa teenagers died in the accident in 2000 when their car collided with a truck that was parked on the wrong side of the road. The latest settlement involves the estate of 19-year-old Nicholas Meyer of Strawberry Point, one of the victims of the accident. His estate will receive 480-thousand dollars from insurance companies of the general contractor, Linn County and the subcontractor of the job. Meyer, along with 18-year-old Alan Chapman of Manchester died when their car struck the semi parked along the road near Ely. A lawsuit involving Champman is still pending. Settlements were made with two others injured in the accident. 17-year-old Brian Brown of Stanwood and 23-year-old Casey Petlon of Manchester.
