A five-week-old strike in the northeast Iowa town of Waverly is over. Koehring Cranes and the United Auto Workers Local 411 agreed to terms on a new, three-year contract Monday. The settlement was confirmed in a statement released by the company. The statement says a federal mediator assisted in the negotiations, but terms of the new contract were’nt disclosed. About 120 union employees, who walked off the job last month, returned to work Monday. The workers went on strike February 7th, after rejecting the company’s earlier contract offer. Koehring Cranes, a subsidiary of Terex Cranes, makes heavy-duty truck cranes for use in mining and construction. The company is one of Waverly’s largest employers.
