The University of Iowa faces Cincinnati Thursday in the opening round of the N-C-A-A Tournament in Indianapolis. Cincinnati coach Bob Huggins says he didn’t watch any tape of the Hawkeyes before they lost leading scorer Pierre Pierce — but he likes what he’s seen of them lately. He says he thinks Iowa coach Steve Alford has them really playing well. Huggins says Iowa shoots the ball as well and as deep as anybody. Iowa will have to depend on the outside shot if the Bearcats do what their coach wants defensively. He says they used to pressure everything, but they don’t pressure as much as they used to. He says they’re “not very big, but we’re long,” and he says they just try to make people take hard shots. Iowa comes into the game as the 10th seed with a 21-11 record. Cincinnati is the 7th seed with a record of 24-7. The game is set for around 1:50 p.m. Iowa time.
