The opening round in class 3A is complete at the boys state tournament. M-O-C/Floyd Valley downed Webster City 48-45 despite shooting only 33-percent for the game. Josh Van Es had 13 points for M-O-C. Van Es says the defense stepped up and got the job done. Webster City coach Mark Davis says the game was played at the pace they needed. He says they wanted to keep M-O-C under 50 points, but he says their failute to execute on offense hurt them. Davis says his team did not get frustrated despite a 13-3 MOC run in the third quarter. He says they know defense has carried them all year long and they know they’re not out of a game unless they get down by 35 or more points.
