Governor not happy with latest speed limit proposal

March 28, 2005 By admin

Governor Tom Vilsack says he’s not happy legislators are tying a proposed hike in the Interstate speed limit to a hike in speeding fines. But Vilsack says doubling speeding fines might have the desired “deterrent” affect.”That is a fairly significant statement,” Vilsack says. “If you hike ’em five bucks or ten bucks, I’m not sure that that does much.” A House committee will discuss the speed limit this afternoon and the full House is expected to debate the issue later this week.
