Iowa women in W-N-I-T Final Four tonight

March 28, 2005 By admin

The Hawkeye women are the only major Iowa college team still in post-season competition — and they face a stiff challenge to stay there. Iowa must go on the road to face Southwest Missouri State in the W-N-I-T final four. Hawkeye coach Lisa Bluder was hoping to get the game in Iowa City. She says she heard they had to go on the road to Nebraska because they had an earlier home game, so “to me this doesn’t make sense. Southwest has had the home court the entire way in the W-N-I-T. Doesn’t seem quite fair.” But Bluder says Southwest does draw well and will probably have eight thousand people at the game. Bluder says the Bears are a good team that’ll make it tough to advance. She says they’ll see a 2-3 zone and will have to do a good job of attacking it. Bluder says Southwest won their conference regular season race and would probably have gone to the N-C-A-A tourney if they hadn’t lost in the first round of their conference tournament. Iowa comes into the game at 23-9, while Southwest Missouri State is 23-8. Game time is 7 p.m.
