NIACC baseball leaders to face off

April 22, 2005 By admin

The lead in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference baseball race is on the line Saturday when North Iowa Area Community College visits Kirkwood. NIACC is 9-3 in the league race after taking three of four from Iowa Central last weekend. NIACC coach Todd Rima says they’re trying to win the championship, so this is a big weekend for both teams. Rima calls this an interesting matchup as Kirkwood has the best pitching stats coming in, while his team has the best hitting stats.NIACC is ranked sixth in the latest division two junior college poll. Kirkwood is tenth while Iowa Central is 13th. Rima says that is typical of their conference, what he calls the best division two college league in the nation.
