Central College rebounds after losing 11 straight

May 2, 2005 By admin

It has been a stunning turnaround to the season for the baseball team at Central College. After opening Iowa Conference play 0-6 the Dutch reeled off ten straight wins to finish third in the conference regular season race. Coach Adam Stevens says that is part of what has been a roller coaster season. He says they started the year 8-2 on a Florida trip and then lost 11 games in a row after returning home. He says they are a young team and that could be one reason for the losses. With the victories comes more confidence and during the win streak the Dutch have been finding ways to win close games. Stevens says they’re still trying to teach the guys how to win and he says he kept the faith during the losing streak and it paid off. Stevens says his team found a way to turn things around even though it wasn’t fun to lose and everything that could go against them seem to go against them.Stevens says they hope to carry the momentum into next week’s Iowa Conference tournament. He says if they get good pitching performances, they’ll be okay, because he says they can score runs. The Dutch have three non-conference games this week to close out the regular season.
