Wartburg plays W-U in NCAA tourney

Wartburg will play Washington University of St. Louis on Thursday in the opening round of an NCAA division three baseball tregional in Bloomington, Illinois. The Knights are seeded second and this is their eight regional appearance in nine years. Coach Joel Holst says while they have not played any of the other teams in the regional this year they are familiar with the programs. Holst says they’ve butted heads before with Aurora and Illinois Weslyann has hosed the regional before. He says they played Washington University a few years ago.Wartburg is coming off the championship of the Iowa Conference tournament after losing its first round game and dropping into the losers bracket. He says they normally have four starting pitchers and playing five ballgames led to their pitching getting thinned out. The Knights are 31-9.
