Des Moines man found guilty of murder in Jasper County

A Jasper County jury has found Hubert Hardesty guilty of first-degree murder. The 64-year-old Des Moines man now facing a mandatory life prison sentence for the death of 60-year-old Linda McCreary of Des Moines. Her body was found at Ashton Wildwood County Park last June 19. An autopsy showed she died of multiple stab wounds to the head and neck. The trial began Friday, May 6 and went to the jury yesterday afternoon. The jurors resumed their deliberations this morning and reached a verdict just before 2:30 p-m.
