Conference focuses on crime victims

A conference today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) in Des Moines focuses on the people who’re impacted by crime in Iowa. Alison Walding is with the Attorney General’s office which is hosting the conference. She says they’re bringing in nation and local experts to explore issues facing crime victims. She says the conference will focus on crime victim’s rights. Walding says the conference is open to the public. She says people who’re are interested in crime victims issues will get a lot out of the conference. Walding says the help available to crime victims has increased. She says there are services across the state and in individual communities. She says, “We are daily doing more for victims, which is the way it should be as opposed to focusing solely on perpetrators.” The conference runs today and tomorrow at Drake University.
