The Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball tournament will include all ten teams next season. League administrators have approved that the tournament expand from the current eight-team format to now include all ten teams. UNI women’s coach Tony DiCecco has been a long time advocate of the move. He says there have been some quality individuals who’ve been seniors and never experience the conference tournament. He says he’s excited about it and many other coaches feel the same way. DiCecco feels the league has become so competitive that every team deserves to participate in the MVC tournament. He says anyone can do the cliché thing and beat anybody on any given day. He says Illinois State was a good example last year of a team that caught fire and went on to win the conference championship. The ten team format will begin with two games on Thursday, four quarterfinal games on Friday, two semi-final games Saturday and conclude with the championship game on Sunday. This year’s tournament will take place March 9th through the 12th in Springfield, Missouri.
