North Iowa Band Festival continues holiday tradition

May 27, 2005 By admin

A Memorial Day weekend tradition — the North Iowa Band Festival is underway in Mason City. There are performances tonight (Friday) by Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Jerry Martin and the Pacemakers and the Powerhouse band at East Park. Band Festival coordinator Vance Baird says the showcase of the day is the parade from downtown Mason City to the high school. Tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in East Park, the Cal-Dows and Mason City High Jazz Bands will perform as well as the band Su-Fu-Du (). Entertainment continues Saturday night with the Mason City Municipal Band’s performance at 6 o’clock, and Baird says people will get a treat at 7:30 with the Dubuque-based American Vintage Orchestra big band, followed by the Impact Brass band. For more information about the Band Festival, you can go on line to “www.nibandfest.com”.
