State court system closed for furlough day

May 27, 2005 By admin

Workers in the state court system are getting an extra day off this weekend, but it doesn’t include holiday pay. The state’s court system is closed today (Friday) and workers are not getting paid. The worker furloughs are part of the court’s way of dealing with budget cuts. Legislators have included an extra 12-million dollars in the court system budget for the next fiscal year that begins July 1st. Most of the money will come from speeders. Legislators doubled the fine for speeding and dedicated most of the money to the court system.
